Globe trotter Benji trains for the 2022 Furry Scurry

Benji has had no shortage of adventure in his life, but perhaps the greatest one yet has been the fresh start he's shared with his new family.

From the minute he scurried out the doors of the Dumb Friends League, the 8-year-old, newly adopted terrier-mix seemed to know there was no time to waste.

Much to his adopters' surprise, he jumped straight into their 1969 lifted International Scout truck – quite the feat for most four-legged friends, let alone a small guy like Benji! That's when his adopters knew – Benji was ready to take on the world.

During his two-month stay at the League, Benji longed for a life filled with activities to satisfy his curious nature. Today, he's living the dream. He and his family regularly explore the great outdoors of Colorado on hiking trails, fishing trips, and camping escapades.

Recently, Benji also added running to his impressive resume. "He is happy to trot along during [my] distance runs," said Bonnie, his doting adopter. "[He also] helps me reach full gallop speed during interval training and reminds me not to compare myself to where I was a few years ago, [but] to just keep putting one paw in front of the other."

The duo looks forward to joining other four-legged friends and their families at the 29th annual Furry Scurry on May 7. Whether you'll be joining Benji at Washington Park or participating virtually, he can't wait to share his first Furry Scurry with you!

Thank you for supporting the dreams of animals like Benji. Thank you for donating to the Dumb Friends League and participating in this year’s Furry Scurry.
